Hixsept: Nuage Blanc tee

Hixsept is a very creative French tee-shirt label. Thanks to the effort put in the "diagonal trip" collection they just took the art of "cut & sew" tee-shirt a step further. Part of the "part II" of this diagonal trip is "Nuage Blanc" which stands as a tee masterpiece.

Don't you just want to frame this thing and hang it on your walls? Amazing design and amazing quality, there's no doubt it's worth its price. 200 units only.

And be sure to check out the scarves. Toronto, Stochkholm, Dublin? Or maybe a blend of the three? Each one limited to 200 units too.

No doubt it's gonna sell out really fast. Oh and for once I can mention my living-city: U and I in Lyon carries the whole Hixsept collection. It's a nice little independant streetwear shop on Rue des 4 Chapeaux, pay them a visit to see the stuff in real.

interlude*2: Chloé's slick beats

You've probably noticed that at the end of any year we always have to endure a thousand "top rankings". Best sportsman: Hussein Bolt; Best leader: Obama; Best movie: Waltz with Bashir; Best crook: Bernard Madoff (wow, that was a contested win this year!)... Music is probably the cultural world that is the most inclined to portray hitself in terms of "Best of something". From Pitchfork's 50 best albums of the year (number 1 for 2008 is Fleet Foxes... is this... a... joke??) to Grammys and comps gathering "the 100 best "whatever genre" tracks" it seems you can never have enough "best-ofs'".

Give me a break, I'm tired of ranking everything. So here is an artist who is good at what she's doing. Is she the BEST at what she's doing? Frankly, who cares? Chloé's objectively talented and no need to rank her with other folks to realise this. As one of the minds behind the parisian nights Kill the DJ and Panik she's been very influential on the clubbing scene and as a dj she's very well known for her deep-dark mesmerizing sets at peak hours in worldwide good techno clubs.

Today I just stumbled upon a short article on this artist in the French edition of Elle. Entitled "Une journée avec Chloé" it's a very nice read and it's just scanned here.

Last year Chloé released her first self-produced album, The Waiting Room which containes real gems. One of them is It's Sunday, a track built around a guitar riff that is getting progressively denser and which sticks to Chloé's dark aesthetic. Next to this album Chloé has released a lot of mixes and lately Colette stored her latest "Live at Robert Johson", recorded in a mysterious yet very influential club in Frankfurt. It's the first part of a series of four mixes and it comes in an "art-book" sleeve intended at gathering the three next releases. Definitely a nice gift for electro-techno afficionados, and a great recognition of Chloé's talent (if ever one was needed).

*****Chloé - It's Sunday

Oh, and you can find cool t-shirts on Robert Johnson's e-shop (see LINKS below)

Last in this "interlude":the party planners at We Love Art are celebrating new year's eve with an impressive line-up at the Tapis-Rouge (Paris): alongside Chloé and her labelmate Ivan Smagghe are Jean Nippon and legendary Pilooski (among others). Nice djs to share bubbles with...

You know where to go if you happen to be around Paris in a couple of days (I won't).

Christmas Sales: Blackbird Ballard

.com
Who doesn't know about Blackbird now? The store that carries a genuine blend of "dandy trash" and cutting-edge designers pieces, from A.P.C to Tim Hamilton through Julius and Obedient Sons. Unfortunately prices are a bit high (same pieces are usually cheaper on other e-shops...but many pieces are exclusive to Blackbird) so sales are probably just what you needed to buy some stuff from Ballard. Thankfully they launched their e-shop a few weeks ago

Tim Hamilton - Scarf-Hat-Pocket-Scarf: $250

Tee

OAK - Flag Teeshirt: $47

Suit

Opening Ceremony - Outdoor Flannel Suit Pant: $195
Opening Ceremony - Outdoor Suit Jacket: $368

(notice that international shipping is $45. It's not much on a Tim Hamilton leather jacket but it's quite a lot on a scarf...)

Bérangère Claire: SO Springish Spring/Summer 09

So yesterday I created a "2009" folder on my itunes, to start storing next year album releases (some have leaked... like "The guy who's singing on massive 2008 hit Blind" & the Johnsons...). 09 is here, full of promises I hope... "Yes we can" as they say across the pond...

Many brands and designers have already unveiled their A/U 09, things go pretty fast in this world. I like to keep it current, stick to news on things that are already in store or almost. So it's good to see Bérangère Claire unveiling here next "batch" of designs and at the same time announcing it's gonna be available as early as February. The Paris-based designer made quite a shift from "checked patterns" to "stripped patterns" and after browsing through the lookbook I must admit it's VERY refreshing. Frais, frais, frais, like a 24 oz. glass of grapefruit juice on a chilly sunny morning in early spring.

I think what I like most about this collection is Bérangère Claire's take on the belted dress. Preppy & sexy.

For guys the collection offers new fitted shirts, perfect to match with a pair of jeans.

Oh, and notice there's underwear now:

(February is Valentine's Day, maybe you've just found a present for your loved one...)
